Thanks Mom & Dad Fund Announces New Grants

Record-setting 11 non-profits are beneficiaries

(Atlanta, March 22, 2017) — The Thanks Mom & Dad Fund today announced its latest round of grants to fill service gaps and provide emergency aid for vulnerable older Georgians.

At a reception for donors, grantees and trustees at the offices of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, the 2017 grants were awarded to a record-breaking 11 non-profit organizations that serve seniors across the state.  Among services provided are meal delivery, transportation, English literacy education, preventative foot care for homeless senior men, and other healthcare.

This year’s grantees are:  A.G. Rhodes Health & Rehab (Atlanta), Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Association, Inc. (Atlanta), Clarkston Community Center (Clarkston), Lower Chattahoochee Direct Service (Columbus), ITNLanier (Gainesville), National Church Residences Foundation (Atlanta), Newton County Senior Services (Covington), Prevent Blindness Georgia (DeKalb County), Project Healthy Grandparents (Atlanta), and The Guest House (Gainesville).

“The Thanks Mom & Dad Fund is pleased to make grants that address significant unmet needs and make a tremendous difference for older adults and caregivers,” said Maureen Kelly, president of the fund.  “We remain committed to identifying and filling service gaps across the state.”

Nearly 70 people attended the event, which included workshops and networking opportunities for current and previous grantees.  Prior to the reception, over 40 people attended workshops led by Thanks Mom & Dad Fund® Board members from WSB-TV, OG Studio and Jackson Spalding.
