Thanks Mom and Dad Fund Welcomes Two New Board Members

Thanks Mom and Dad is excited to welcome the newest Board of Trustees Members to the fund, Bill Kitchen and Julie Mitchell. Bill and Julie are joining an elite team of respected Board Members that have helped to create awareness for the ever-increasing need of support for the Baby Boomer generation as vital services become strained and gaps emerge in care and services.

Bill Kitchen, a respected strategic leader and decision-maker, has over three decades of Business and Life Science experience. His career over the past sixteen years has been engaged in the governmental arena where he provides guidance in navigating the governmental process. Bill has worked in several markets throughout his career as well as owned and operated his own small businesses. His experience and knowledge of governmental process are sure to be vital to the efforts of the Thanks Mom and Dad Fund®.

Julie Mitchell has years of experience in marketing and public relations. For the past eight years Julie has worked in sales and marketing for Isakson Living’s two continuing care retirement communities (CCRC), Park Springs and Peachtree Hills Place. Julie personally understands the need for CCRC’s as the vision for Isakson Living’s communities came from the experience of her own family and her grandparents, Ed and Julia Isakson. Julie has served on the Executive Committee of the Shepherd Center’s Junior Committee for four years and served as co-chair of its fundraiser, Derby Day. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Shepherd Center. Julie’s personal experience with helping aging family as well as commitment to her goals are sure to help in the success of the fund.

Thanks Mom and Dad recognizes the hard work and dedication of all Board members including: Tom Baxter, Jocelyn Dorsey, Jeff Howell, Maureen Kelly, Betsy Sheppard, Tom Sherrill, Michael Thurmond, Sarah Walton, Carl Wilbanks, Valarie Wilson, John Jamieson, Stan Kalus, David Pollan, Jerry Rhea and Lucy Whelchel. Without this dedicated Board of Trustees, none of this would be possible.

The Thanks Mom and Dad Fund® is a charity created to support programs and services for the aging population in order to improve the quality of life for older adults. Created by the Atlanta Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging and formed in cooperation with The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Thanks Mom and Dad honors parents and grandparents through ongoing fundraising for support.
